Blog Entry My Weight is at its Heaviest, Ever!

After coming home last night, I got on the scale and weighed myself.  I couldn’t believe the number, so I weighed myself again, thinking maybe the scale was being screwy. I weighed again, and again.  I even brought the scale out to the kitchen floor, thinking maybe a different surface would help.  One more time. Then another. I sighed. It wasn’t changing, and I wasn’t surprised.

I weighed in at 111.5 lbs, the heaviest I’ve ever been my entire life. Woah!  … see the full entry

Blog Entry How can something so small be so much?

Lunch today, provided by the office, will be Costco hot dogs and Costco Polish dogs. I didn’t bring my lunch today, I’m starving, and I will probably have my usual 2 dogs with mustard and ketchup.

I didn’t want to, but I just looked up the calorie count for those dogs. It visually seems like a pretty small meal, but guess what…

A Costco hot dog has 560 calories! So before any type of drink (soda) or sides (chips, … see the full entry

Blog Entry Free Weights versus Weight Machines

I went to Target yesterday and, because they were on sale and I’m a sucker for a bargain, I picked up a pair of dumbbells.  They’re 10 lbs each, coated, and made by Reebok.

At the gym, I use the bicep freemotion machine (cables and handles), the tricep freemotion and tricep press machines, and occassionally the preacher curl bicep machine.  I don’t like to use the preacher curl machine because my arms are short and I can’t position them comfortably on … see the full entry

Blog Entry How am I able to eat so much?

When I was awaiting the arrival of my pedometer, I was worried that I would find out that I’ve been overestimating my activity level. A lot of reviewers wrote about how they thought they were at the “active” level of 10,000 steps per day, only to find themselves barely breaking 3,000.

Now that I’ve had my pedometer for several days now, I understand why I have been able to eat so much and not get overweight: I am a … see the full entry

Blog Entry Dieting versus Exercising for Flat Abs

Quick post for now: I’m reluctant to admit this, because I love food, but it seems that the past week of sorta watching what I eat has done more for the appearance of my abs and waistline than months of exercise. Blah.

Blog Entry Buying a Pedometer to Track Daily Activity Level

As I mentioned in my previous post, I bought a pedometer to get a better grasp of how many calories I burn a day. In order to do this, I needed to know my activity level and a measurement of one’s daily step count is a good indicator of this (sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, active, etc.)

I bought the Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer from Amazon.com based on reviews … see the full entry
