Motivation Tip for Getting to the Gym

Like I’ve said before, and I’m sure I’ll say many times over, getting to the gym is the hardest part.  Being there is great.

In addition to the “get-up-and-go” trick mentioned previously, another way I motivate myself to go to the gym, especially if I’m just starting out, is by buying something new.  Be it a new workout outfit, gym bag, sneakers, water bottle or whatever, I get myself excited by going shopping and finding the perfect accessory. Once I have it, I can’t wait to use it and actually looking forward to going to the gym.

Yesterday, I bought a new pair of sneakers.  Granted, I needed to buy a new pair of sneakers; the ones I had were a year and a half old, grayed, and had lost cushioning and heel support.  Buying sneakers is always an ordeal for me.  I have to stay in my budget, find something with good heel support, find something that looks good and comes in my size.  It’s hard to find size 6’s in stock around here, and I was about to give up in my 3rd store when I decided to check out the kids’ section.

I’m now sporting a very cute pair of red, black, silver and white Reeboks in a size 3 kids. :-D  They are comfortable, have great cushioning, and since they were in the kids’ section, cost me only $24.99!  I was so happy to finally find something that works and I was so excited about putting them to use.

And I did, this morning.  I went to the gym! More on that soon.
