Leg Workout - Tuesday, June 10, 2008

I worked out for about 45 minutes this morning, focusing on my legs. I started out by walking very briskly to the gym (1.7 miles). After this great warm-up, I did seated leg presses, 110lbs, 3 sets of 15 reps. It was tough, but I could have gone harder. Just want to take it easy for now.

I did leg curls, 2 sets of 18 at a slightly heavy weight, and then 3 sets of 18 on the glute machine at a low weight. My leg shook coming forward on the glute machine with each rep (at only 30lbs). I need to strengthen those muscles.

I then did 2 sets of 12 at 70lbs on the inclined squat, 2 sets 24 reps of outer thigh extensions at a high-comfortable weight and 2 sets of 24 reps of inner thigh squeezes at a slightly higher weight.

I finished by stretching my legs. On the way out of the gym and down the ridiculous long flight of stairs to the street, my legs felt a bit funny, which was good. It was the kind of feeling you get if you hit your funny bone. I knew I had given my legs a good workout. It’s a few hours later and my legs aren’t sore, but I know they will be tomorrow.  I already like the way my legs look and don’t really need to sculpt them, but I want to be increase my strength and endurance.

I feel alert, yet tired. I’m still struggling to go to bed at a decent time. I went to bed at midnight last night, giving me only 6 hours of sleep. It’s an improvement though; I usually go to bed at 1 or 2. Tonight, I will try to hit the sack by 11, at the latest.
