More weight and more muscles
October 27th, 2008
Sorry, I know I’m not very good about updating this frequently, but here’s a quick one.
My weight, which for the past 3 years has hovered between 100 and 105, is now stuck at between 106 and 108. What happened? I’m not sure.
Do I look like I gained weight? Quite the opposite.
My arms look more tone, and my stomach has more definition. Do I weigh more because I have more muscle than before? Hmm.
I am back to my normal eating habits, … see the full entry
Not Eating Enough and Gaining Weight
October 16th, 2008
So I mysteriously put on 7 lbs 2 weeks ago and I think I finally figured out why:
I’m not eating enough!
I usually eat a lot, snacking throughout the day, but ever since I started paying attention to my calories, my weight has stubbornly stayed fixed at 5 - 7lbs more than my norm. What the heck is going on?
Well, for the past two days I said “Screw it!” It was my time of month and I was craving fatty meats, … see the full entry
Blood Glucose (Sugar) Level and Exercise Timing
October 10th, 2008
I’m know I’m oversimplifying this, but here’s the basic gist of how you get fat:
You eat carbs. Your body breaks down the carbs for glucose, a source of energy for your body. The glucose is absorbed into your blood stream. Insulin is secreted by your pancreas to “carry” the glucose into your cells as a source of energy for both cell functions and physical activity. With muscle cells, some of the glucose is stored as glycogen to power muscle contractions. … see the full entry
Glucose, Glycogen, and Fat Burning
October 9th, 2008
So my primary goal right now is to reduce body fat. I’ve been doing a lot of research on the best way to do this. Cardio? If so, what kind? Weights? Diet? Everything?!
First, I wanted to understand exactly how and when the body breaks down fat. I’ve came across a few articles, which I was hoping to link to from the end of this entry, but I accidentally X-ed out of my Firefox window while I was trying to move … see the full entry
Gained 4 pounds overnight
October 9th, 2008
Grrr… last night, after my low cal dinner and my 2nd day of cardio, I weighed in at 104.5 - finally I was no longer 107 and back to my normal weight. Woo! or so I thought…
This morning, I weigh 108.5… WHAT?! How did I gain 4 lbs overnight? What has happened to my metabolism in the past week? Gah, is this the beginning of the end?
A 320 Calorie Dinner
October 8th, 2008
My dinner tonight was:
- A can (2 servings) of Progresso Light soup, Beef Pot Roast flavor [160 calories]
- Two slices of lightly toasted wheat bread [110 calories] with a serving of black forest smoked deli ham [45 calories] and two leaves of lettuce [5 calories]
It was filling and tasty, plus it was cheap!
Loaf of Bread: 99 cents for 11 servings so 9 cents a serving (99% of the breads listed a serving as 1 slice, but this brand actually acknowledged the fact … see the full entry
Do More Cardio to Lose Body Fat
October 8th, 2008
So, it’s been 3 days and I haven’t lost all of the 7 lbs I gained on Sunday yet. I have lost 4 lbs though, and the strange (scary?) thing is that I have weighed in at 107 lbs for 4 weigh-ins now. This is unheard of for me. First of all, for me to still weigh more than I’ve ever have is unusual. Secondly, my weight always fluctuates a lot during the day and from day to day. It … see the full entry

My Weight is at its Heaviest, Ever!
October 6th, 2008
After coming home last night, I got on the scale and weighed myself. I couldn’t believe the number, so I weighed myself again, thinking maybe the scale was being screwy. I weighed again, and again. I even brought the scale out to the kitchen floor, thinking maybe a different surface would help. One more time. Then another. I sighed. It wasn’t changing, and I wasn’t surprised.
I weighed in at 111.5 lbs, the heaviest I’ve ever been my entire life. Woah! … see the full entry
How can something so small be so much?
October 1st, 2008
Lunch today, provided by the office, will be Costco hot dogs and Costco Polish dogs. I didn’t bring my lunch today, I’m starving, and I will probably have my usual 2 dogs with mustard and ketchup.
I didn’t want to, but I just looked up the calorie count for those dogs. It visually seems like a pretty small meal, but guess what…
A Costco hot dog has 560 calories! So before any type of drink (soda) or sides (chips, … see the full entry
