Overdue Update

June 30th, 2008

I know I haven’t posted in a while. I’m just not motivated to write lately. I’ve been really tired. Hitting the gym everyday and still not getting enough sleep to make up for the early hours. Ugh. But my body is really coming together and I feel stronger and healthier. Just. so. darn. tired.

It’s almost midnight. I should have been in bed at 10:30, the latest. I’m going to bed now. I’ll … see the full entry

Week of 6/16 Recap

June 19th, 2008

It’s Thursday.  My last entry was Monday - egads!  I need to put more effort into keeping this updated.

This week has been busy, but I am still going to the gym everyday!  I almost didn’t yesterday, Wednesday, because I decided on Tuesday night to get a bit more sleep and go after work instead.  The Celtics had just won an amazing series and I was up a little bit later than I should have been; I only had one drink … see the full entry

Surprising Diet Side Effects

June 16th, 2008

I went out for dinner tonight.  Now usually, I would have ordered something like the ribs or steak, but I’m consciously trying to make healthier choices now.  Not that I think steak is bad for you, but I eat enough red meat as it is already.  I decided to go for either the tuna steak or the rotisserie chicken.

Wanting something a bit more substantial, I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with a side of brown rice and the hot & … see the full entry

Let’s Talk Numbers

June 16th, 2008

I took my body fat reading yesterday and the average came out to 17.4%. This means I’ve lost about 1% of body fat! According to this chart from Wikipedia (which is cited as from the American Council on Exercise):

Description
Women
Men
Essential fat 12–15% 2–5%
Athletes 16–20% 6–13%
Fitness 21–24% 14–17%
Acceptable 25–31% 18–25%
Obese 32%+ 25%+

I am in the “Athletes” range. Also, further research shows that two people can be at the same fitness level/body type, but have different body fat percentages based … see the full entry

Quick Diet Note

June 16th, 2008

I’m having lunch, and they brought in both white rice and brown rice. As much as I love white rice (and I mean LOVE), I chose to have the brown rice.

It’s really not bad at all. I’ve decided that if I have a choice, I’ll chose the healthier option. More often than not, it’s still very tasty.

If I don’t have a choice, I’m not going to beat myself up about it and make sure that for the … see the full entry

I had a GREAT day at the gym!

June 14th, 2008

So today, being Saturday, was my optional day. After going to the gym every day during the week, I decided that my weekends were going to be a bit more relaxed. However, I ended up going to the gym today around noon, and boy, I’m so glad that I did. I had a great time!

I mainly did cardio today. I usually run on the treadmill or use the stairmill. I truly enjoy running on the treadmill … see the full entry

Lunch - Friday, June 12, 2008

June 13th, 2008

So lunch today was catered breakfast foods and I just couldn’t help myself.

  • 5 breakfast-sized pork sausage links
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • a heaping of scrambled eggs (maybe the size of two tennis balls)
  • a cup of fresh fruit (honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, oranges, and grapes)

I wanted more, but I stopped myself. An hour after lunch, I felt tired and groggy. This happened before, the last time I tried to eat healthy, whenever I eat heavy/fatty foods, I felt physically dulled and slowed afterwards.

Let … see the full entry

Breakfast - Friday, June 13, 2008

June 13th, 2008

While in the supermarket last night to pick up some eggs, I got a craving for some breakfast sausage.  Now, I know how utterly unhealthy sausages are, but they’re one of my favorite foods.  I like them in links, patties, mixed in with stuffing, anything, you name it.  Mmm mmm mmm!

I also want to shake up my morning breakfast routine a bit.  A girl can only take so much cereal and milk before she goes bonkers!  As I was looking … see the full entry

Lunch - Thursday, June 12, 2008

June 12th, 2008

So we had the Armenian food, and I ate so much of it.  No exaggeration - I ate to the point where my stomach was stretched and round. I felt stuffed and uncomfortable, yet I kept eating because it was just. so. tasty. Ugh! Self control, Taffy, self control!

3 greasy, roasted (I think?) fatty pork ribs
a 6″ kabob of some sort… chicken maybe
1/2 a pickled cauliflower head
2 cups of green tea

It doesn’t seem like much now that I’m writing it … see the full entry
